Reiki
“I found myself in a state of anxiety and depression, where I was emotionally unstable, struggling to concentrate on my work and daily life. Di did a distance Reiki session on me. The relief of pressure I felt lifting from my chest and shoulders was amazing."
Healing
Reiki is a healing energy modality. It is powerful, yet gentle and non-invasive.
Reiki came into my life way back in 1997 and I have been a Reiki Master for 19 years, teaching Reiki and offering Reiki sessions, the sessions can be either in person or distance. I was trained in what today is known as the “traditional” Usui System of Natural Healing, with one of the first ever Reiki Masters in South Africa, Laina Lesicnik. I teach Reiki 1, Reiki 2 and Master level. When I attended that first Reiki 1 class I felt like I had come home. Even though I have trained in other healing modalities, Reiki is the one that has stayed with me. It has also been a vehicle for my own personal growth and transformation. I often refer to my life as BR and AR (Before Reiki and After Reiki!)
Reiki is a healing energy modality. It is powerful, yet gentle and non-invasive. It activates and accelerates the body’s own natural healing abilities. It rebalances the mind, body and spirit, at all levels of a person’s being and restores it to wholeness. Reiki relaxes, relieves tension and stress, increases vitality and energy. It acts as a detox, helping the body to eliminate toxins and strengthens the immune system. It aids the release of emotional blockages. I have used distance Reiki to help clients heal from past trauma still held in the body, as well as working with their Child Self and Future Self to release negative beliefs that may be impacting on their life today. Recently my Reiki sessions expanded into working with the energetic blueprint. This blueprint holds the soul purpose we incarnated with and over time can become weakened, eroded and damaged by our life experiences. I am also sometimes guided to work with the person in the Akashic records, to clear soul contracts from their etheric bodies.
What Reiki can do for someone never ceases to amaze me, even after all these years of working with it!
Spiritual Energy
Universal Life Force Energy.
Reiki (pronounced *Ray Key*) is a Japanese word that means “Universal Life Force Energy.” The word "Rei" refers to the mysterious, universal aspect of this energy. Think of it as divine wisdom or higher power. "Ki" is the life force energy that flows through every living thing: people, animals, and plants. Put simply, Reiki is a spiritually guided life force energy.
What I love most about Reiki is how it works on every level of a person’s being, and that I don't control it. As I tell my clients and my Reiki students: The Reiki practitioner becomes a beautiful hosepipe through which the Reiki energy flows.
It’s all about reconnecting with the life force within us. Reiki taps into the essence of life itself, and when we align with this energy, it becomes a powerful tool for personal growth, transformation, and healing.
Reiki isn’t tied to any religion or belief system, so it’s open to everyone, no matter who you are or what you believe. You don't even have to believe in Reiki, you simply need to give permission to receive it. The husband of one of my students always scoffed at this "woo-woo" practice, but whenever his dodgy knee started playing up he asked her to please put her hands on it to help with the pain!
Reiki allows us to live in harmony with the Universal Life Force, to feel connected to Spirit, God, the Divine - whatever you choose to call it - and to discover more about our true selves. What’s truly beautiful is that Reiki is completely unconditional. It doesn’t ask anything from the giver or the receiver.
For me, Reiki is like a doorway that opens up a connection to Divine energy. It’s a way to experience Spirit and the pure, unconditional love that flows through everything.
It’s more than a practice. It's a manifestation of something sacred and transformative.
Spirituality and Religion
Reiki can be as practical as you need it to be. Or it can be a deeply spiritual experience for you.
I have often been questioned about whether or not Reiki is a religion. It isn’t. I love to use the following as a response. Unfortunately I have no idea where it comes from, but it’s wonderful way to explain the difference.
Remember there is a difference between spirituality and religion. A way of looking at it is to see religion as the vessel that holds your spirituality. Religion is more solid and less flexible. Spirituality is the expression of the Divine within each of us, it is the essence of our divinity and like a liquid, often needs a vessel in which to be held. Religion is a particular set of beliefs and rituals used to express and/or connect with our spirituality. Spirituality is not confined to the rules of any one religion. Religions often conflict with one another while spirituality crosses boundaries to unite us all.
Reiki isn’t a spiritual practice either. It can be as practical as you need it to be. Or it can be a deeply spiritual experience for you. A lot of research has been done on the healing power of our bodies, about energy and the mysterious and wonderful forces of the Universe that sometimes are beyond the scope of our mind to comprehend. What I do know is that Reiki will come into your life when you are ready. It finds you! A Reiki session is approximately an hour if a hands-on treatment, or 30 minute distance Reiki sessions are also available.
